The HCPS Dual Language Immersion model supports English-speaking students aspiring to learn Spanish and native Spanish-speaking English learners (ELs). At Holladay Elementary School, our dual-language immersion program spans pre-kindergarten to third grade. In pre-K, we offer a standalone classroom with one teacher and assistant delivering instruction in English and Spanish alternately. For kindergarten through third grade, each grade level comprises two classrooms. One teacher conducts instruction in Spanish for part of the day, while the other teacher delivers instruction in English for the second part of the day. In line with our dedication to academic excellence and linguistic diversity, we are thrilled to share that over the next few years, we plan to extend our program to include fourth and fifth grades. This expansion will offer continued opportunities for students to thrive in a bilingual learning environment as they progress through their elementary education.
Our team of Spanish-speaking teachers are all native speakers, enriching students' language acquisition with cultural nuances and real-life experiences. Through this immersive approach, students seamlessly integrate both academic and everyday language in their learning journey.
